Meet Our President
Dan Schmidt, President
Dan Schmidt was born and raised in Michigan and earned his degree in Business Management from Albion College. After graduation, he ventured into his first entrepreneurial endeavor by opening a bakery franchise in Florida. He also gained experience working as a buyer and in sales.

One day, Dan’s father mentioned that his employer, Meijer, was considering a large-scale relamping project and suggested Dan look into starting a business in that field. Inspired by the opportunity, Dan launched Reliable Relamping, Inc. with just a van, scaffolding, and a three-person crew.

Dan spent several years working hands-on as an installer before shifting his focus to managing and growing the company from a home office. He soon hired his first office employee, and from there, the business began to thrive.

Today, Reliable Electric and Lighting is headquartered in Saranac, Michigan, and has grown to over 100 employees. The company provides electrical service and lighting retrofit projects work nationwide. In 2018, Reliable Electric and Lighting was honored with the Acuity Brands Lighting Turnkey Services Vendor of the Year Award, and has proudly been named to the Inc. 5000 list for three consecutive years.
